Privacy Policy

Last updated:

At Devpalettes, we are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy outlines how we handle information when you use our free color tools, including cookies, analytics, and advertising services. Founded by Ashish Kekaan, Devpalettes operates with a privacy-first approach.

Our No-Server-Storage Promise

Your data stays with you. Devpalettes does not use a backend database to store user accounts. Tool settings such as theme preferences and saved palettes are stored locally in your browser using localStorage. We do not ask you to create an account to use our tools, and your palette data is never transmitted to our servers.

1. Introduction

Devpalettes ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to transparent data practices. This Privacy Policy explains what information may be collected or processed when you use our website at devpalettes.com and its subpages, including our Palette Generator, Gradient Builder, Color Converter, and other free design tools.

This policy applies to all visitors and users of Devpalettes. By using our website, you consent to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the site.

2. Information We Collect

Our site is designed to minimize data collection. We use localStorage to save your settings directly in your browser. This data is never transmitted to our servers.

2.1 Information Stored Locally in Your Browser

The following data is stored in your browser's localStorage and never leaves your device:

  • Theme preference (colorpallates-theme) — your dark/light mode setting
  • Cookie consent choice (devpalettes-cookie-consent-v1) — whether you accepted or rejected non-essential cookies
  • Saved palettes and tool settings (colorpallates-*) — palettes and preferences you save while using our tools

You can clear this data at any time through your browser's settings.

2.2 Information Collected by Third Parties

When you consent to non-essential cookies, the following categories of data may be collected by our third-party partners:

What We Store Locally

Theme preferences, saved palettes, gradient settings, cookie consent choice.

What We Don't Collect

Personal names, emails, passwords, accounts, tracking IDs, or payment information.

3. Third-Party Services

We use trusted third-party services to deliver content and support our site. Each service is described below with its data practices:

3.1 Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand usage patterns — such as which pages are popular, how users navigate the site, and general traffic trends — so we can improve Devpalettes. Google Analytics collects anonymized data including:

  • Pages visited and time spent on each page
  • General geographic region (country/city level, not precise location)
  • Device type, browser, and operating system
  • Referral source (how you arrived at the site)

We use Google Consent Mode v2, which means Google Analytics only loads after you explicitly accept non-essential cookies via our cookie consent banner. If you reject non-essential cookies, Google Analytics does not load and no analytics data is collected.

Google Analytics data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

3.2 Google AdSense

We display advertisements through Google AdSense to support the free operation of Devpalettes. Google AdSense may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. Specifically:

  • Personalized advertising: Google may use your browsing history across sites to show ads relevant to your interests. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
  • Non-personalized advertising: Even if you opt out of personalization, Google may still serve ads based on the current page content, your general location, and recent search queries.
  • Cookies used: Google AdSense may set cookies including __gads, __gpi, and __gpi_optout. These are third-party cookies governed by Google's advertising technology policies.

Google AdSense only loads after you accept non-essential cookies through our consent banner. If you reject cookies, no AdSense scripts are executed and no ad-related cookies are set.

3.3 Google Fonts

We load the Inter font family from Google Fonts. When your browser requests these fonts, Google may log your IP address and the URL of the page you are visiting. See Google's Privacy Policy for details.

3.4 Font Awesome

We load icon assets from Font Awesome via cdnjs (Cloudflare). cdnjs may collect anonymous usage data. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

3.5 Formspree (Contact Form)

When you submit our contact form, your name, email address, subject, and message are sent to Formspree, our form processing provider. Formspree stores this information to deliver your message to us. We retain submissions for up to 90 days for follow-up, after which they are automatically deleted. Formspree's data practices are described in their Privacy Policy.

3.6 No Other Third-Party Tracking

We do not use Facebook Pixel, Twitter Pixel, Hotjar, Mixpanel, or any other third-party tracking or analytics services beyond those listed above.

4. Cookies & Your Choices

We use cookies and similar technologies for essential site behavior and, with your consent, to measure performance and advertising effectiveness. You can accept or reject non-essential cookies using our cookie consent banner.

4.1 Cookie Categories

Category Purpose Consent Required
Essential Theme preference, cookie consent state No
Analytics Google Analytics (GA4) — page views, traffic patterns Yes
Advertising Google AdSense — personalized and non-personalized ads Yes

4.2 Managing Your Cookie Preferences

If you previously accepted non-essential cookies and later want to opt out, you can:

For full details on specific cookies, see our Cookie Policy.

5. Data Retention

We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy:

  • Browser localStorage data: Persists until you clear your browser data. We do not control or have access to this data.
  • Contact form submissions: Retained by Formspree for up to 90 days, then automatically purged. We may retain a local record for follow-up purposes for the same period.
  • Google Analytics data: Governed by Google's retention policies. We have configured GA4 to automatically delete user and event data after 14 months.
  • Google AdSense data: Governed by Google's advertising data retention policies.

You may request deletion of any contact form submission at any time by emailing contact@devpalettes.com.

6. Your Rights

6.1 GDPR Rights (EEA/UK Users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

  • Right of Access: You can request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.

  • Right to Object: You can object to processing based on legitimate interests or for direct marketing purposes.
  • Right to Withdraw Consent: Where processing is based on consent (such as analytics and advertising cookies), you may withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out prior to withdrawal.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at contact@devpalettes.com or through our Contact page. We will respond to your request within 30 days.

If you believe your data protection rights have been violated, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in your country of residence.

6.2 CCPA Rights (California Residents)

  • Right to Delete: You can request that we delete any personal information we have collected from you.
  • Right to Opt-Out of Sale: We do not sell personal information. There is no need to opt out.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA rights.

Notice at collection: The personal information we may collect is limited to what you voluntarily provide through our contact form (name, email, message content). We do not collect personal information automatically beyond what is described in Section 2.

To exercise your CCPA rights, contact us at contact@devpalettes.com. We will verify your identity and respond within 45 days as required by law.

7. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including:

  • Using HTTPS encryption (TLS 1.3) for all connections to our website
  • Processing contact form submissions through Formspree, which uses industry-standard security practices
  • Storing user preferences exclusively in localStorage, which is sandboxed to your browser and cannot be accessed by other websites
  • Using Google Consent Mode v2 to ensure analytics and advertising scripts only load after explicit consent

While we strive to protect your data, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. If you have concerns about security, please contact us.

8. Children's Privacy

Devpalettes is a general-audience tool suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. Our tools do not require accounts or personal information to use. If we become aware that a child under 13 has submitted personal information through our contact form, we will delete it promptly. Parents or guardians may contact us at contact@devpalettes.com to request deletion.

9. International Data Transfers

Devpalettes is operated from India. If you access our site from outside India, your data may be transferred to, stored, and processed in India and other countries where our third-party service providers (Google, Formspree, Cloudflare) operate. By using our site, you consent to such transfers. Google and Formspree comply with appropriate data transfer mechanisms, including Standard Contractual Clauses for EEA users.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of Devpalettes after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
